Franco's - Decanter
I visited Franco’s, an Italian restaurant tucked away on Jermyn Street, just off the buzzing Piccadilly after a visit to the Royal Academy of Arts.
Between people-watching and admiring the shop displays across the street, we enjoyed a glass of Prosecco Di Valdobbiadene Extra Dry from Col Vetoraz – refreshing and perfect for a hot summer day.
For a little something extra, order their sicilian cannolo with pistachio ice cream.

Stefano joined Franco’s as a senior chef de partie two years after the restaurant’s initial re-design in 2005.
Two years later when the previous head chef resigned, it was an easy decision to promote Stefano to Head Chef.
Stefano continues to inspire and delight with new dishes on a daily basis.
Although from the north of Italy, Stefano has a passion for many of the ingredients from central and southern regions.
With Stefano’s thoughtful guidance, Franco’s continues to focus on ensuring the consistency and quality of all the products we serve.

food staff busyness
Good afternoon readers, this week we have taken a recommendation from James in Woking who asked us to check out Franco’s, near Green Park who specialise in modern Italian cuisine and is apparently the first Italian restaurant in London!
There were a couple of small parties in on the same night, which normally slows smaller restaurants down, especially given that it’s a busy enough time of year anyway.
The flavours combinations went together superbly and I even tried the octopus (I still don’t like it but can appreciate the cookery skill that it involved…) for the main course I had the classic lasagna whilst Anna went for the Pan fried sea bass with sautéed artichoke new potatoes.
I had to go with an Italian classic and wasn’t disappointed, the combo of pasta, bolognese and cheese really can’t be beaten and although Anna had the more refined main course I think I chose the best dishes!

food drinks
Inviting pavement tables, which bring a classy continental feel to traditionally English Jermyn Street, are most popular; there is also a relaxing café-bar and a more formal Italian restaurant next door.
Their £18 'complete breakfast' – full English plus a pastry, juice, toast and tea or coffee – will set you up for the day.
Outside breakfast it's mostly classic Italian (pasta a strong point, lasagna a best seller) with a few dishes from the grill as well.
And the wine list enables you to drink very well for under £30 – something of a rarity for Italian places in the area.
It’s no accident that in an area that’s packed with restaurants, Franco’s is still going strong.
